2. Vacuum the carpets thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris that might be trapped in the fibers. This will ensure that the cleaning solution can do its job properly without being blocked by debris first
3. Mix one part water with two parts vinegar in a spray bottle and apply evenly across the surface of the carpet using light strokes along the direction of the nap (the upright fibers).
4. Let it sit for about 15 minutes so that it has time to penetrate deep into the carpet fibers and loosen any embedded dirt particles; then vacuum again to remove any residue left behind from step 3. Note: this step may need to be repeated depending on how dirty your carpets are; more buildup means more applications of this solution!
5. For added odor removal power, add a few drops of essential oils like lavender or peppermint to your mixture before step 3; these natural scents will help mask any remaining smells left behind by pets or kids so that your home will smell fresh again!
